Istanbul is a big metropolitan with its population of 20 million people. The city located between two peninsula which located in two continents. They divided by a natural channel called Bosphorus.

When we talk about istanbul, first we start with old city which is the first settlement in that area surrounded by city walls. It was an old castle estate. Today this are is the most touristic area in istanbul. The top spot is Hagia Sophia Church which is a mosque at the moment. It is one of the oldest and biggest churhes in the world and wonderful with its structure and marbles.

A similar monument built by Ottoman, just next to Hagia Sophia is Blue Mosque which is also one of the biggest mosques in Turkey. Original name is Sultan Ahmed Mosque but well known as Mosque Blue by Europeans.

Another highlight is Ottoman Topkapi Palace which is a museum at the moment. This is the biggest palace of Ottoman where the Royaly lived about 500 years. Today it is one of the most popular museums in Turkey. In the garden of Palace you may also see, Hagia Irene Church and Archeology museum with Gulhane Garden.

You will also walk by Hippodrome square of Byzantium and face to Great Basilica Cistern which was the main water pool of Byzantium. It is connected to the lakes out of city about 40 km away by a Aqueduct.

When you have a chat about istanbul, you always hear about The Grand Bazaar where you find the bisggest covered street Bazaar of Ottoman. Today you can find lots of gifts, souveniers, spice, jewellery and more.

If you have some more time in istanbul layover, you may also visit Galata Tower where you can watch all istanbul with a panaromic view. You may pass to the most popular street in istanbul, Istiklal Street till Taksim Square where people spend their time in restaurants, cafe, bars, clubs, shops and more.

Of course, another important palace you should not miss, is Dolmabahce palace which is the last Ottoman Palace on the Bosphorus. Another highlight is surely Bosphorus between two continents. You may also see Golden horn, Miniaturk and Pierre Loti in that area.

Do not forget to visit Camlica hill and camlica mosque if you have a chance to pass to Asia side of istanbul. You may also have a look the fancy town of Asian side, Kadikoy and you may see local peoples life.
